Karachi, Pakistan – Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) apprehended a group of ten individuals, including seven women, on suspicion of planning an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia using Umrah visas. Among the detainees was a suspected travel agent believed to have orchestrated the scheme, the FIA revealed in a statement.

The individuals, identified as Muhammad Nawaz, Rahmatullah, Nizamuddin, Sugra Khatoon, Hazira Khatoon, Imam Zadi, Marvi Khatoon, Mai Amiran, Zareena, and Mai Khanal, were reportedly residents of Rahim Yar Khan, Tando Allahyar, and Sukkur. Initial investigations suggest that Nawaz posed as a relative of the detainees and managed the travel arrangements and documentation for the group.

The FIA reported significant irregularities, including the detainees’ lack of knowledge about Umrah rituals, the absence of accommodation arrangements, and no funds to cover travel expenses. The group was unable to provide valid documentation to justify their planned journey.

All suspects have been transferred to the FIA’s Anti-Human Smuggling Circle in Karachi, where further legal proceedings are underway as authorities investigate the alleged trafficking scheme.
